Day 30: no kids goodbye, Friday's wedding, staff party & my last night

5th August:

Went up to the school to find out all the children went home early because it was the last day of school, so there were no Joseph rehearsals. It also means i never got to say goodbye to all the kids, which is very sad, also cause I bought all these sweets for them. I'm hoping I'll bump into some of them around the playground where some of them hang out.
Having seen the certificates I made for Meg and AJ, Friday asked me to design his wedding invitations! He invited me too, but I'll have left by then :(
After lunch it was the staff party, for which I spent a lot of the time trying to convince little Thoko to let me take out her splinter with my tweezers. She may be adorable but jeez she's stubborn!
I walked into town to get some money out from the ATM to pay for my stay at butterfly and the boys walked with me. I heard Stanley say "one - nil", which is one of the quirks they picked up from the Hampton boys when they were here! That cracked me up. I got to the atm and found I had no money left on my visa and my travel card is a MasterCard, which they don't accept here. Uh oh, I can't actually pay AJ for my stay here :/ but I'm seeing her and Meg on Monday in Mzuzu for a girls shopping trip to Dapp (like TKMax), so I'll pay her then.

My last night was a good night, even though there were no volunteers left at butterfly. I went to the Mayoka BBQ buffet with Dave, Isaac, Winston, Stan and a few of the others (like Isaac's girlfriend Queen).

Isaac impressing everyone with his magic trick!

Afterwards we went to Dave's house so we could name the puppy and then headed to Isaac's house. He showed me around and I saw he has a flushing loo! (The first one I've seen out here). We played around with his two dogs, (one's called Simba), and then had a dance off. They're all ridiculously good at hip hop, especially Dave- jeeze he's good!
We ended the night at Chikale beach and hung out there until I got walked back to Butterfly. Dave told me he had a confession to make- he said that a few years ago he and Winston were in jail for three days for getting into a fight. Since then he has never fought. He also told me he's applied for this volunteering thing in town which I think is counselling and helping the youth in Nkhata Bay, but I didn't quite catch what he was saying. Either way, its so good what he's doing.
