Sunday 31st:
Isaac, Dave and Stanley kept me company for breakfast, and Isaac chatted for a long time about volunteers passing through. He told me that from the first time he met me in the toy cupboard at the Gulugufe nursery he knew I was different cause I didn't see the difference between white and black, and also apparently how I liked to keep busy rather than being on holiday.
He also talked about how he had a girlfriend in Germany and visited her for two months, then people gave him a hard time for coming back, saying he should've stayed there as it was his way out- his way to make money. People have this idealistic view that western countries automatically equal success and money.
Said goodbye to the French girls from last night who were lovely.

Isaac fell asleep in the hammock having had 11 shots of gin that morning (!!!!) and done an all-nighter after the fishing trip last night. I'm slightly worried he's a bit of an alcoholic!

They all waited for me while I finished off some work then we went off to a party at Chikale beach, about a 5 minute walk from Butterfly. I managed to teach Dave how to waltz which was rather amusing! Then as we left the beach Isaac pushed a guy cause the guy called his girlfriend a bitch and said that "any girl on chikale beach could belong to me- relationships don't mean anything". The guy threw a punch at Isaac and then Dave and another guy tried to break it up. Stanley grabbed me and told me we should go. But we waited for Dave at the top of the hill. The fight didn't carry on thank god but I'm upset because I think I might have seen Isaac hit his girlfriend. He is a really good guy and a good friend (epically these last few days) but jeez he gets a very short temper after a few drinks!

Came back for dinner and met Lauraine, an Irish solo traveller who's staying at butterfly for a few days.
Before bed I had a long chat with Friday the chef and found out that although he absolutely loves cooking, he wants to get more education so he can climb up the ranks, cause he works too hard and has very long hours here. It's the first time I've seen him not be his usual chirpy grinning self. He told me he's saving up cause he wants to go to a college/university to get a certificate in hotel management. It can either take 2 or 4 years, depending on the qualification you want.
I didn't take many photos of the food at Butterfly, but here are two of my fav's:

My favourite thing for breakfast- pancakes! The weekend special: "Locky Load", the Malawian version of Rocky Road (all their 'r's are pronounced as 'l')
