Mimi in Malawi

Malawi, the tiny country bordering Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique, also known as 'The Warm Heart of Africa' will be my home for the next two months. This blog is my way of keeping in touch with friends and family back home, and sharing all my photos and stories.
My first month will be spent at a highly recommended backpackers' and volunteers' lodge in Nkhata Bay called 'The Butterfly Space'. Here I'll spend my time doing voluntary work in their various projects with the local community and throwing myself into Malawian culture.

I have absolutely no clue what I'll be doing for the second month. I'm hoping to meet some of the people who pass through Butterfly Space to go traveling round the south of the country with. On my bucket list I include a visit to Monkey Bay and Cape Maclear as I've heard they are beautiful, and ideally an ascent of Mount Mulanje if can find a climbing buddy, although I know it would be a tad ambitious!  I have many more things on my list (including visiting the Williams Falls in Zomba) but I'll talk about what I'm doing later on in this blog.

Bye for now, just leaving for the airport!

  1. Dear Mimi, have an amazing time! I've been to Monkey Bay and Cape Maclear, many years ago, plus I climbed Mulanje! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures - stay safe. It was great to meet you the other day - and your dancing at the showcase was incredible!
